Del Barber

Del Barber joins us at The Mary Webb Centre January 24th thanks to the generous support of John & Kori Wright’s Towing & Repairs in Highgate. Barber is no stranger to travel and the road.  He has spent countless days, months touring North America and jetting to Australia to share his country-dusted and well polished blend of independent folk, folk-rock and alternative country. Prairieography, Barber’s fourth album, has been named #1 Folk/Roots Album of 2014 by !earshot charts and he was a Juno nominee in 2011 for Roots & Tradition Album of the Year before winning two Western Canadian Music Awards. Barber began recording music while attending Covenant Bible College and cites some of his influences as The Band, Merle Haggard, Neil Young and Wilco.  Part of the next wave of country music, Del Barber flies in especially for us from Winnipeg with his singer-songwriter and producer talents.  Barber  is not intimidated by hard work.  He’s already travelled over 200 000 miles on the road performing 100s of shows.  His creative spark comes from home. Barber’s grounding backbone stems from   the fishing, riding horses, playing hockey and farming which underpin his connection of the urban and the rural. This musician has an organic sound sure to align perfectly with the landscape and culture of Chatham-Kent, an ideal setting for him to showcase his talent.  For more information, visit http://www.delbarber.com
