December 23, 2010, was the day the historic Highgate United Church began a new life since ceasing to be a place of worship in June 2010. Named to honour one of the founders of the Highgate community, Mary Webb Gosnell, The Mary Webb Cultural and Community Centre will be a venue for entertainment, presentations, education, cultural and community activities.

A group of volunteers in the community has purchased the heritage church and is undertaking an adaptive re-use project that will see this beautiful 100 year old heritage structure host high profile music concerts, art and artisan exhibitions and sales, cultural events as well as a place to gather for members of the local and broader community. This unique rounded building with a stained glass domed ceiling, inclined floor with curved pews and incredible acoustics has already seen a very successful photography exhibitions and musical events.
