Jungsik Jo (Michael), was born in South Korea in 1955.  He moved to the USA where he worked diligently for 20 years to put his two children through university and now is a permanent resident of Canada.  He lives in South Western Ontario in the town of Highgate.  Finally, he is doing what he loves and has missed for so many years, sketching with his pen and ink, pencil, acrylic painting, and water colours.  He is recreating memories from the past and for the future for so many others now.

As a child he was taught art basics by his father who loved to sketch and draw.  He has spent countless hours and days on the internet teaching himself from Korean and North American art sites and leaning so much to perpetuate his work.  His inspiration comes not only from his father, but from Korea’s 5,000 year history.  His travels amidst the beauty and culture of both his country and others, with memories of the mountains, temples, palaces, the trees, and the landscapes with all their beauty are seated in his mind and reflected in his work.  He also has had some sad memories of the devastation from the Korean War fought in his homeland.

His artwork remains positive and full of beauty because he is a positive man who cares much about others and works hard to show this in his work.  His work brings him peace, happiness and serenity as it comes alive and is magical at times.  Those who know Jungsik Jo personally, feel so grateful to be part of his life and look forward to each new piece of art he creates.  He has travelled back to Korea to study the medium acrylic from artist and teacher Jung Taewon, who graduated with his art degree and has been teaching for over 25 years.  Jungsik Jo hopes you will enjoy his art work and as with so many others, find joy and peace in his work.
