On Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026 th , the Mary Webb Centre for the Arts in Highgate hosted
Julian Taylor, Logan Staats and Jordon Hart, 3 incredibly talented singer-songwriters
who put on a very special and unique concert, “Songs and Stories”.
Jordon and his wife Emily Schultz started the concert with 20 minutes of wonderful
music. Jordon on guitar and his wife on a cajone accompanied a couple of cymbals
and a shaker sang songs all written by Jordon. His first, “Won’t Let You go”, told of his
proposal to his future wife, who originally said no but eventually said yes. A new song
was “Different Town” and he finished a very unique version of Leonard Cohan’s
“Hallelujah”. Jordon and Emily have been on the last several shows with Julian and
Logan and Jordon told about how happy he was to tour, because he learned so much
and made new friends. This was the last show in their “Songs and Songs” tour. They
received a standing ovation.
After a short intermission, Julian Taylor took the stage. He is a very well-known singer
and song-writer who has a great, quiet voice. He tells wonderful stories between songs
and had the audience join him on several songs, which they were very glad to do. As a
child, he and his sister went out to BC to stay with his grandmother and they learned so
much about music. “It Never Ends” was about that time. Seeds” is a song that he wrote
for all of the children in the residential school. Julian’s voice, guitar playing and songs
are so intriguing that it is hard to listen and watch him while taking some notes for a
review. He has a large batch on the internet and Spotify. As he said, music is the
universal language. Another standing ovation!
After an intermission, Logan Staats took the stage. One of his first songs was about a
woman who drove around her reservation, which was Logan’s true home, with her
husband’s ashes. Another song told about how a few years ago he had to turn his van
around because his tour was cancelled due to the forest fires in B.C. when he looked
out his window at what looked like snow was actually ashes from the fires. He
commented on about how great it was to have Joshua as part of their tour and how
they started tour with new people but ended up with great new friends. To finish the
concert, Julian and Logan performed a few songs together and were also given a
standing ovation. Quite the concert. Thanks for The Fenton families for sponsoring this
