Take 3 & Company

On Feb. 10th, 2024, Take 3 & Company brought their wonderful “Remembering Burt Bacharach” to the Mary Webb Centre for the Arts in Highgate. The Take 3 artists, backed up by four wonderful musicians, covered a wide variety of the hundreds of tunes written by Bacharach with many along with lyricist Hal David. The three, Ron and Jenny Naute along with Theresa Wallis sang such songs as I’ll never Fall in Love Again, Alfie (Bacharach’s favourite song and a Grammy winner), That’s What Friends are For, Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head and ending with What the World Needs Now is Love (Sweet Love). Of course, with Valentine’s Day so close at hand, many of the songs dealt with love!

Throughout the whole concert, looking around the hall, it was easy to see many in the audience singing along, even if they didn’t remember the song by its title. The musicians accompanying the “3” were very talented and added such a unique sound to the whole concert. It was very interesting that all seven of these musicians travelled from within SW Ont to play at our wonderful venue. For example, the saxophone player is a retired cardiologist from London and now lives in the Leamington area. As happens so often, they were totally amazed at what a wonderful concert hall we have in the somewhat remote town of Highgate. They were very impressed by the acoustics and how well they were received by those who came to listen to them. They certainly seemed to be having as good a time as the audience was having. For their encore song, they sang How Sweet it is. Take 3 & Company do a variety of other concerts which would be well worth travelling to hear. Special thanks to our concert sponsors Victory Lincoln.

Our next concert is at 8:00 pm on Saturday, Mar. 2nd, 2024 when Petrolia’s Three of a Kind present “The Glory Days”, a special concert to help raise funds for refurbishing the stained glass dome in the concert hall. See more details at marywebbcentre.ca.
