On Nov. 22th, 2025 the Mary Webb Centre for the Arts in Highgate welcomed back Sam Polley, this time with his band The Old Tomorrows.
All of the musicians are extremely talented players and singers. Sam told stories before many of the songs, which were all originals and has a great sense of humour. Sam grew up in a very musical family and it was only natural that he become a musician himself.
In 2017, he surrounded himself with local musicians that he knew had similar musical interests, recruiting Tally and Gianno Ferreno (bass and drums) as well as guitar player Fraser Melvin. The band quickly meshed and performed to a sold out Camerson House crowd in Toronto. The Cameron House is an extremely popular pub in Toronto that attracts a wide variety of famous performers. The Cameron House has been a Ferreo family owned pub for some 40 years.
He came up with the song “Walk Away” in a dream, and when signing his song “Gonna be Mine” at a concert, a couple in the audience asked him to perform at their wedding. He said yes. What they didn’t tell him was that the wedding was taking place in the Florida Keys. While performing at the wedding, a woman came up and asked him if he could sing anything good, which to her was country and western. He actually plays a wide range of music styles.
On “Would Not Mind”, a rock and roll tune, they all harmonize which was truly wonderful. They sang acoustic “I wish You Were My Baby” with no mics which wowed the audience once again. Throughout the two halves of the concert, Sam and his band totally enthralled the audience who continually showed their appreciation. They didn’t make it off the stage before being brought back for their encore. Sam, for his part, loves the Mary Webb Centre, as do the members of his band. Hopefully they return for another show sometime down the line.
